Accounts and signed-in devices
Silo is in active development before 1.0. These guides are updated frequently.
Everyone in a household shares one account and password. Profiles separate each person’s watching; see Profiles, PINs, and shared devices.
Sign out
Section titled “Sign out”Open the profile menu (your profile picture) and choose Sign Out. In the web app it’s Logout.
Switch to another server
Section titled “Switch to another server”In the mobile and TV apps, choose Switch Server from the profile menu. On a sign-in screen, Use a different server, Change server, or Use another server does the same. Each server has its own accounts and profiles, so sign in with the details for that server.
Change your password
Section titled “Change your password”Only the primary profile can change the account password.
- In the web app, switch to the primary profile.
- Open Settings > Account.
- Enter your current password and the new one twice, then select Change password.
If Local password changes are unavailable appears, your account signs in through another provider; change the password there.
Changing the password here keeps your other devices signed in. To sign every device out, use a reset link instead (below).
If you were given a temporary password, sign in through the web app first and choose a new password when asked. Then use it in your other apps.
Forgot your password?
Section titled “Forgot your password?”- Open your server’s sign-in page in a browser and choose Forgot password?. If you don’t see it, your server doesn’t offer email resets; ask the person who runs it.
- Enter your username or email address and request a reset link.
- Open the link in the email and choose a new password. The link works once and expires after one hour.
The confirmation message looks the same whether or not an account was found. If no email arrives, look in your spam folder and make sure you used the right server and username.
Using the link signs your account out on every device. Sign in again with the new password.
If your account signs in through another provider, use that provider’s recovery process.
Lost or stolen device
Section titled “Lost or stolen device”Silo can’t sign out a single device, but you can sign out all of them. The quickest way is to request a reset link with Forgot password? (see above) and choose a new password; a private browser window works if you’re signed in on that computer. Every device, including the lost one, is signed out.
Your server administrator can do the same by setting a new password for your account or disabling it for a while. Then sign back in on the devices you still have.
Forget in Settings > Your Devices only removes that device’s saved settings; it doesn’t sign the device out.
Before you give a device to someone outside the household, sign out.
